Well I did it! I went on my first ever “mom-cation” last week. If you follow along on my Instagram page you may have noticed the pictures popping up of flamingo girls, awesome works of art and my friends and I having some great times. Looks like fun right? It was. . but it was also the hardest trip I’ve ever taken.
For me in my life it is almost too easy to fall into the “mom” zone..completely forgetting about myself and turning all of my attention onto caring for my family and their needs. The daily grind of cooking, cleaning, errand running almost seems like it would fall to the side without me. After all, who could get all of these things done every day like I can? It is easy for me to forget that my husband can handle it. Its even harder for me to LET him handle it. This trip turned out to be a great opportunity for us all. Not only did I begin to loosen up and let go of my “helicopter mom”/OCD mentality but I learned that everything will be ok if I let them take care of things for themselves once in awhile. I feel more liberated, more relaxed. What a great trip it turned out to be.
Do you want to see pictures? Of course you do! Its Vegas!
|We stayed at the newly renovated Flamingo Hotel. Loved the pink decor everywhere!|
|We taste tested Coca-Cola products from around the world. Some were just plain nasty!|
I simply fell in love with all of the culture and art of the city. Here are a few of my favorite “artistic” photos from the trip.
While it was super hard for me to give up the control and my own fears about leaving, I am glad that I was able to let go and have some fun. I have a renewed respect for my husband for taking care of everything while I was gone and a better relationship because of it. It may be a long time before I get the chance to do this again, but I am thankful for the memories and the fun that was had. The best part of the whole trip was coming home and being welcome in the airport by two overly excited little kids ready to smother me in kisses and hugs.
Being a mother is the absolute BEST! Its good to be home. 🙂
Have you ever took a “mom-cation”? Where did you go?
