My husband came home from work the other day and said “Hey, did you know that Biggby Coffee has a hot caramel apple cider available right now? Me – “No, I didn’t. . but that sounds amazing. . did you get me one?”. Him – “No, I just thought you would like to know”. Hmm. . . totally not funny. 🙁

Ok, so now that he mentioned this delectable hot apple cider with caramel a few days ago I can not get it out of my mind! Only problem is. . I never drive by a Biggby coffee and I really don’t want to pack the kids up to drive across town to get one. So, whats a mom to do? Make it herself I guess! It’s a good thing I have Pinterest and a good sense of adventurism.
The best part of this story is that I have an apple orchard closer to me than town so I can get apple cider, apples, donuts ect anytime I want it. So the kids and I took a walk over to the orchard, picked up some apple cider and donuts and headed back home to finally fulfill mommy’s growing obsession.
The process for making the sought after hot caramel apple cider is pretty easy. Just follow along with my four simple steps below.
1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
1/4 c. dark brown sugar
Werthers Baking Caramels
frozen whipped topping
This recipe has been adapted from the Mr.Food Website
In a large saucepan combine apple cider, dark brown sugar and 2-3 Werthers baking caramels over medium low heat. Simmer until caramel has melted and ingredients are well combined. Serve with whipped cream topping and caramel drizzle.
Yum, now that hits the spot! I will be staying inside today, away from the cold fall weather and under my blanket with a cup of this. That is until my kids see that I am resting and suddenly decide that mom is far too comfortable for her own good. 🙂
What is your favorite cool weather drink?
