One day it is 60 degrees and the next it is 30, but that could only mean one thing – spring is almost here! While the weather is undoubtedly finding it’s way to warmer days, the nights and still some of the days are cloaked in a chill. Since I am fully ready for the weather to pop into spring and stay, I have already began packing up and putting away my winter gear like heavy blankets and coats. To replace them, I am bringing out the lighter weight jackets and have added to my decor a light weight retro fringe blanket – that I totally made myself (and I am going to show you how to make your own today)!
Hold On to Your #SnuggleUpMoments a Little While Longer
There is one thing that never goes out of season and that is snuggling. I have always been a snuggler. When I was just a little girl my mother even bought me the iconic Snuggle® stuffed bear that I kept with me all the time – I named him “Snuggy”. Even as my mother used to wash my snuggy bear in Snuggle® detergent when I was a little kid, I do the same today because my special bear has lasted to be passed down to my children. Every time I pull him out of the dryer after a quick “freshen up”, his smell brings those special memories back to me – memories that I am now passing on to my kids.
While the scents and ease of use have upgraded over the years, the brand quality has remained the same – which is why I still use it today just like my mother did 30 plus years ago. For my laundry routine I like to enjoy long lasting scents, so I use the new blue iris bliss® Snuggle Scent Boosters® placed directly into my washer drum in addition to my detergent for an added boost of freshness.
Then to compliment the freshness with a snuggle worthy softness, I finished off my laundry with Snuggle® Ultra Blue Sparkle fabric conditioner – which gets added to my dryer. These two products are just better together – like family and memories.
Cuddle Up to Spring with a DIY Retro Fringe Throw Tutorial
I absolutely love the way this blanket throw turned out! It is light weight, soft and easy to make. Plus, the best part is, it can be machine washed and dried!
- 2 Yards (or more depending on the length you want) Flannel Shirt fabric – find it on a bolt at a fabric store.
- Seam Ripper.
- Find the two short ends of the fabric – these are the two ends you will fringe. The longer sides are finished so they wont be touched.
- Using the seam ripper, start to pull the thread that runs horizontally through the fabric out. You will start to see a fringe appear.
- Repeat step two until the length of fringe you want is achieved – I made about an 1 inch fringe.
- Flip the fabric to the other short end and repeat steps 2 and 3.
After I made the fringe on my blanket, I gave it a quick “delicate” wash to remove any unattached strings from the fabric and to give it a fresh scent before placing the blanket in my living room to be enjoyed.
