Our third stop on our 10 day road trip brought us to Walt Disney World where we were guests for the new #awakensummer media preview. While we were at the parks we were able to take a sneak peek at the new Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Night. Yes, you heard me right, the Animal Kingdom park will soon stay open for nighttime attractions and shows – allowing guests to see what nature does after we’ve all gone to sleep! Ready to see what you can expect? We’re super excited!!
The new schedule is marked to debut Memorial Weekend 2016
Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Night
The Animal Kingdom park is one of my favorite parks during the day – but take it into the night and it’s a whole new experience!
Here’s what you can expect to see at the new Animal Kingdom at Night:
Rivers of Light
The Rivers of Light is a new water filled light show which combines never-before-seen footage from Disneynature, theatrical imagery, live performances, a soaring original score, and innovative special effects. I only saw a quick 15 minute preview of this breathtaking show, but what I did see left me wanting more. It was airy, captivating and emotional.
This part of the new attraction is still scheduled at “coming soon” – opening some time during this summer.
Nighttime Awakenings at the Tree of Life
At night the magnificent Tree of Life, which stands at 145 feet tall, comes to life with lighted imagery, music and stories of nature. Some of the tree’s 300 animal carvings and a few other memorable characters come to life before you and the beautiful array of colors brought to life with them is one to remember.
Harambe Wildlife Parti
The party comes to life at night in the village of Harambe with marketplace performers, musicians and acrobats. We loved walking the lighted streets, clapping along to the energetic performers and tasting the local food and drink menu’s.
When the Sun Goes Down
Have you ever wondered what the animals do after dark? Now is your chance to see! During the new park hours the Animal Kingdom rides keep running and take on a whole new atmosphere. During our preview we were able to experience the new Kilimanjaro Safari’s Nocturnal Encounters – for me this ride seemed a little bit more eerie at night because I knew the animals were there, but I couldn’t always see them. Other’s who rode Expedition Everest that evening told me it had a different feeling in the dark as well.
A new world awakens when the sun sets and I couldn’t be more excited that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has decided to embrace this beautiful other side of nature. For more information about Disney’s new Animal Kingdom at Night attraction – visit their website.
