Welcome to the Adventure!
Hi, I’m Mary -the author of Raising Dick and Jane. I adore traveling with my kids, fashion, automotive style from the 60’s, and all things sweet. I have two kids whom I adoringly call “Tee Tee” and “Buddy”. Together we roam the United States (sometimes in our 1950 Bel Air) in an effort to share how beautiful and kind the world can really be.
This is our community. It is made up of parents, wanderers, road trippers, and people who cherish the thought of raising their kids to understand kindness, empathy, and courage.
Why We’re Here
I’m a work in progress.
Like many other parents, I have found myself feeling alone, scared, and totally unprepared for the challenges motherhood presented to me. With all of the news, media, and warnings out there – I found it easy to unknowingly slip into a fear based life.
Many days I find myself waking up to the kids bickering, my newsfeed on Facebook would be full of depressing stories, and the feeling of being totally alone. Over the years I’ve found myself spending every day simply waiting for the next – for a time when things get better and easier.
I needed a change and that’s when I discovered the crazy impact travel had on my life and the lives of my kids. I found out that there are a lot of really amazing people in this world. People I need to get to know and love.
We are now a family on the go – spending much of our time road tripping the U.S. together. Through homeschooling and travel, I have made it my mission to raise my kids to practice kindness, find courage, and experience happiness brought out by the smaller things in life.
That’s the basis of Raising Dick and Jane – although it has also been created to be a community of encouragement and a community about sharing what is good in the world! As a community, we share travel tips, stories about parenting, ways to have fun together as a family, and all around things that we simply hope will make you smile..
