Disclosure: Stonyfield has gifted me with a gift card to donate to any cause I choose – I choose this one.
It seems as though when the holidays roll around people get it in their minds to do something nice for someone less fortunate. This is a wonderful thing. My only wish is that the feeling lasted longer. Because anyone can be a hero in someone else’s life and it doesn’t just have to be during the holidays.
A few years ago I was introduced to a novel idea – when people are faced with a crisis, they either react or become a bystander. This can be anything from seeing someone get into a car accident, seeing a homeless person go hungry, or simply witnessing someone tease or hurt another person. In these types of situations, it is typical for people to just freeze – and I don’t blame them. Often, this is because the fear of not knowing HOW to react can cause people to freeze in the moment. That is where the Hero Construction Company comes into place.
The Hero Construction Company – Building Hero’s
The Hero Construction Company was founded on the principles of teaching people HOW to make the decision to react when they see something that just doesn’t seem right. They work to help people overcome the bystander effect – or what’s commonly known as the deer in headlights look. By offering educational materials to schools and by bringing together real-life hero’s at their many around the world events, HCC hopes to give people the tools needed to take a step forward and live the life they’ve always wanted.
Come Together | The Hero Round Table
Several times a year the Hero Construction Company sets up camp in different venues around the world to offer real-life, hands-on sessions in what’s known as The Hero Round Table. These short “talks” last around 10 minutes and cover anything from stepping out of your comfort zone, overcoming obstacles, and finding the freedom to be yourself.
Here is one of my favorites:
Help Send a Kid to Hero Training
I love that I have had the opportunity to bring my children to events such as these and have been able to give my kids the opportunity to speak with people who are making a difference in the world. I believe that hearing the stories of people who have made the decision to act can help give other people the confidence as well. Since I think that every kid should have this opportunity, I have decided to donate the gift card that Stonyfield gave me to help send one child to a Hero Round Table conference somewhere in the world. Hopefully, this child will be inspired to make a positive change in the world and be a part of a brighter future for us all.
Here’s how you can help:
The Hero Round Table and HCC need your help in not only sending kids to these events but also in funding their efforts to provide free hero training courses to schools across the world. Every donation makes a difference.
