The kids recently took to YouTube to review the new My Painting Party kit that was sent to them by ChooseFriendship. Take a look to see how it went and enter to win one of your very own to try!
Not too long ago, I went to one of those adult painting classes with my sisters. As a child, I loved to paint. In fact, I painted regularly and took art classes up until the point when I had my children. Art was special to me, but when the kids were young and I was sleep deprived, I let it go. So when my sister invited me to join her at this painting class, I had mixed emotions. This was something I hadn’t done in a very long time. I wasn’t really even sure that I still could do it.
As I sat down on my stool and picked up my paintbrush, I felt a missed sense of harmony. Why did I ever stop painting? That hour in the studio seemed to fly by. As the art teacher painted on the stage and I followed her movements, the techniques came instinctively rushing back to me, much like riding a bike. I quickly remembered that painting was a lot of fun.
Driving home from the art studio, I kept peeking back at the painting propped up in my child’s car seat. Why wasn’t my love of painting something I was sharing with my children? It just made sense that I start to include it in our lives.
Let’s Paint Together
When I arrived home, I couldn’t wait to share what I had painted with my kids. For once, the tables had turned and I found myself standing there with a big smile on my face, holding up my artwork, hoping my painting was good enough in their eyes to make it onto the fridge. Thankfully, I have beautiful children who think anything mommy does is amazing and together we came up with the perfect place to hang it on the wall.
As we finished straightening mom’s painting, I could see the light in their eyes when I mentioned that maybe we could do this again, together.
In an ironic twist of fate, just as I was looking for the perfect way to introduce painting classes into the lives of my kids, the folks from ChooseFriendship reached out to me with a new product called My Painting Party. It was exactly what I was looking for – a painting course that would start simple and then increase in difficulty level as we went along. Plus, one that could be done when we have the time or wanted something fun to do together.
