Yes. My Entryway is Always a Mess.
For the longest time, I have dreaded stepping into my entryway simply because it was always in horrible disarray.
Shoes in piles all over the floor. Coats thrown over chairs or left to be stomped on under foot.
Tell me – why? Why does it always look like that?
I understand that we are almost always coming and going – but come on! I can go in and pick it all up only to return ten minutes later to find it disheveled again.
What I needed to do was to somehow add entryway storage to a room without any – like none whatsoever. I’ve got walls. That’s about it.
No Experience Needed
I feel it’s best to get off my chest from the very beginning that I am not the handiest person when it comes to home improvements. I also hate to organize – but I do love it when things are in order. Does that make any sense?
What I wanted to find was an easy way to create storage in the space I had. I also didn’t want to build the storage, I just wanted to put it up and have it look great.
Is that too much to ask?
Apparently, it’s not. Not when you shop the storage solutions from Spectrum Diversified!
Look closely below at what I decided to use – it’s not something you’d necessarily think of for entryway storage.

- Spectrum Diversified Storage Basket, Small, Satin Nickel

Coats, Bags, and Bike Gear – Go Here
Staring at the pile of coats, bookbags, and whatever else was recently thrown on the floor, I realized that a simple coat hook just wasn’t going to cut it. That’s when I found these ironing board holders and they seemed absolutely brilliant.
The storage space on top makes a great spot to toss hats, gloves, baseball gear, or bike helmets. The hooks hanging down (meant to hold the ironing board) make for the perfect place to hang a coat and bag.
By lining the baskets up along the wall, each member of the family was able to have their own spot for random things and two hooks each.
Pick Up Your Shoes
So, I will probably still have to remind everyone to pick up their shoes but at least now we have a proper place for them! How exciting! This seriously couldn’t have been any easier to put together.
To create this shoe storage idea, I simply picked up a three cube storage bench and then added wire baskets from Spectrum Diversified to each open space.
I chose these wire baskets because I loved how they gave the design a mechanic or industrial feel. They’re perfect! Plus, we can easily see what shoes are in the basket instead of having to pull them all out – to make a bigger mess on the floor.
Even though this project was quick and easy, it totally made a huge difference.
What spot in your house is the least organized? Tell me about it in the comments.
I’m thinking I might need to tackle the closets or the kitchen cupboards next. .
