Going back to school means going back to a busy fall schedule. There are educational lessons to accomplish, fun outdoor activities to participate in, and just recently we’ve joined the Goldfish Swim School for water safety lessons. How is it possible to stay sane with all of this running around and things to accomplish? I use three simple steps. Let’s chat about it.
Hey Fall, Slow Down.
Gone are the summer days when we would sleep in until eight or nine and wake up refreshed. When we would mosey out into the kitchen in our jammies to eat a bowl of cereal while we watched cartoons and threw out ideas of which fun way we would choose to spend our day.
Last week it felt hard to catch my breath.
In my house, everyone has something they want to do and my own busy schedule doesn’t seem to help the situation at all. Although, somehow we are making it all work and I think it has to do with staying organized and keeping our schedules visible to everyone in the house.
3 Ways to Tackle Family Scheduling
Keeping my families schedules running smoothly is important to me because when things fall off track, I get stressed. I don’t like to be stressed. So in order to keep my entire household on the same page, I use these three super simple methods.
1 . Use a Fridge Calendar.
Sounds simple, right? Using a fridge calendar might seem like a no-brainer but it makes the world of difference in my home! By keeping schedules where I can see them quickly and frequently, I feel more on top of who needs to be where and when. Using a fridge calendar helps everyone in the house understand everyone else’s schedules as well.
2. Use Phone Notifications.
Because we are a family of busybodies, I also use the calendar on my phone to send me notifications of events. Having an “alarm” set to notify me one hour before each event has saved me on numerous occasions. Plus, if you use Google calendars you can sync your phone calendar with others so everyone can know what’s going on.
3. Choose Activities Wisely.
This one is super hard for me because I don’t like to miss out on anything and neither does the rest of my family. However, setting boundaries about what is possible with our time is important. We always start our season by sitting down and making a list of everything we want to do and then we narrow it down to our top choices of what we are going to do.
Why GoldFish Swim School is a Top Pick
Like I mentioned before, this fall season we decided to add water safety lessons at Goldfish Swim School to our schedules. Even though my kids are adequate swimmers and just spent the entire summer swimming in pools, we still felt that swim lessons were important enough to be added to the list. Here are three reasons why:
1 . Swimming Lessons Can Help Build Confidence.
My kids are good swimmers but are they completely confident in the water? I would say no. I would also say that I am not completely confident when they are in the water and would like to improve upon that.
At Goldfish Swim School my kids are taught proper swim strokes, they are also taught to roll to their backs and float, and they are they are encouraged to enjoy swimming instead of seeing it as something stressful. <–This goes for moms and dads too.
At the end of each lesson, I am invited onto the pool deck so my kids can show off what they’ve learned that day. It’s fun. I also enjoy that as my kids grasp the lessons and techniques, they are moved upward through the levels. You should see the pride on their faces when they get a ribbon and complete a swim level – it’s awesome.
2. The Pool is Always 90 Degrees.
I don’t know about you, but swimming year round is fun. Especially when you live in a climate that gets rather chilly in the winter months. At Goldfish Swim School, the pool is always kept at a balmy 90 degrees. It is like a mini tropical vacation once a week!
Don’t worry, after swimming in the pool, Goldfish Swim School has an amazing facility with changing rooms, hair dryers, and this super cool machine that dries bathing suits so you don’t have to take home one that’s sopping wet. They’ve seriously thought of everything!
3. Goldfish Swim School Keeps Things Convenient.
Adding classes at Goldfish Swim School was easy because their scheduling is pretty diverse. They have courses every day of the week, including Saturday and Sunday! With the wide variety of class options, we were able to work lessons in when it was convenient for us.
Also, it needs to be mentioned that the area for parents to wait during swim classes is beyond amazing! There is a large wall made of glass to separate the pool and the waiting area. I can relax with a coffee, maybe get some work done during their 30-minute class but during that time I can always see them and enjoy watching them learn.
