Do you ever feel like you don’t always know exactly what you are doing in life? That’s ok – me too. While the world may at times tell you that not knowing what you want to be or where you want to go is a bad thing, I’m here to say “no it’s not”. Quite possibly, what’s meant for you hasn’t even been invented yet. Today, I am sharing with you the story of how I’ve decided to say “yes” to myself even when the path isn’t clear and how I believe embracing this mantra is preparing me for my next big adventure! What are you saying “Well Yes!®“ to in the new year? I invite you to share it with me in the comments. Plus, there is an opportunity for you to win $500!
Where to Start
Isn’t the new year exciting? I’ve always thought so. Even though there isn’t a clear change in our lives or a magical potion to make things new, I’ve always considered this time of year to be the time of new beginnings.
The new year is a great opportunity to decide what we want to change – or better yet, START.
Last year, I found myself on the path of adventure! It was grand! I loved saying “yes” to my dreams, meeting new people and laying down real strides in conquering my fear of flying.
If you were one of those “lucky” people to find themselves next to me on a flight this last year during moments of rough air, I sincerely apologize. I’m getting better. . .
However, even though this year of travel was amazing and incredibly worthwhile, I still often find myself struggling to accept that it’s ok to say “yes” to what I really want (or need). Especially if it means navigating away from a path I’ve previously chosen.
Saying “Well Yes!” To New Paths
I feel that all too often, at least on my end, that I don’t always give myself enough permission to try something new. I’m serious! Or better yet, I often think that just because I’ve started on a path and tried something new, I must then stay on that course.
What will people think if I tell them that I don’t always know what I’m doing? What will they say if I admit I want to make a change in my life? Well, they’d think I’m honest, right? Do you really think most people know what they are doing all the time? I think not.
As we move into the new year, I am starting to understand the importance of listening to your own heart. It was always about choosing to follow the path made sense individually and less importantly about which path you are taking, wasn’t it?
Saying “Yes” to Better Care – to Slowing Down
There is freedom is simply saying “yes” to yourself based on what you feel you need and for me, this year, my sights are pointing more towards better self-care. It’s something I feel that I really need.
Traveling full time is amazing but so is a warm couch, a bowl full of soup, and being home with those you love…
To take my first step, I plan to allow myself more time to relax and appreciate what is already around me.
I don’t always have to be on the go! I’ve learned that I need moments of relaxation to refuel my body just as much as I need adventure – it is the balance that gives me what I need to continue forging forward into the future. I can’t always run on an empty tank – lesson learned!
Secondly, I am saying “yes” to paying more attention to what I am eating.
Coffee is not a meal (say it with me if you need to)!
Over the last year, I have spent way too much time eating airport foods or skipping meals entirely. . . no more.
One of the easy ways I’ve prepared myself for my new self-care journey is by stocking up on Well Yes!® soups. You heard me, I am no longer using the excuse of “I didn’t have time to eat” because these can be ready in the microwave in less than 3 minutes!
I chose Well Yes! because they’re made with nutritious ingredients, like chicken meat with no antibiotics, sweet potatoes, kale, and quinoa! All of my favorite things! They even come in flavors reminiscent of my travels; favorites like Cajun Red Bean & Vegetable Soup, Mediterranean-Style Wedding Soup, and Sweet Potato Corn Chowder Soup.
I also love that Well Yes! soups are made with non-GMO ingredients and come with a non-BPA lining! For my lifestyle, this truly is “A Soup in the Right Direction®”.
On the similar grounds of heading in the right direction, allowing myself to say “yes” to what I truly believe I need (and want) is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made – even if it isn’t always what those around me think I should want.
By having confidence in my own choices I’m allowing myself to grow as a person, to have more enthusiasm about what I care about, and to find the courage to continue saying “yes” to even more exciting new moments in the future.
What will those adventures be? I can’t wait to find out and by taking better care of myself I’ll be ready for them when they get here!
