You did this! Tonight, a baby will get tucked into bed with a dry diaper and it’s all your fault. Let me take a moment and just say thank you!!
I say thank you because the world is a little bit better of a place today because of you. Between October 29th and December 23rd, many of you made the choice to purchase your Huggies diapers at Meijer. This small act, maybe even one you made without realizing the overall impact, helped provide a family in Detroit with the diapers they desperately need.
Can you imagine? I can’t. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not have easy access to enough diapers to keep my baby or toddler dry, clean, and healthy on a daily basis. But did you know that 1 in 3 American families are in diaper need? That is all too many and I am happy to say that organizations like Huggies, Meijer, the National Diaper Bank Network, and many of you are already stepping up to help.
No Baby Unhugged | Metro Detroit Diaper Bank
On January 25th I attended an event at the Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank – located in a Uhaul storage facility in Detroit, Michigan. Here I found an operation that is solely ran on the needs of others. There were no fancy offices or even a desk to sit at; just a few storage lockers, pop up tables, and people ready to do the work.
These are the people who are making a huge impact on the lives of others and it seemed to me like they were doing it all from the heart.
Sounds like an operation to get behind, doesn’t it? That is why I was not at all surprised to find Meijer and Huggies reaching out to them with donations; two companies who have a long history of giving back.
In fact, this year marks the fifth year of partnership between Meijer and Huggies! In those five years, the two organizations have donated a total of 1 million diapers to support families in need! Talk about amazing!
As I stood and watched Meijer hand over a check for $10,000 to the National Diaper Bank Network and Huggies fill the storage units with 100K diapers (part of a larger 400K diaper donation to the National Diaper Bank Network), I felt heartwarming awe.
They Didn’t Have To, Yet They Did | You Can Too
When companies go above and beyond, I take notice. These are the companies I want to support with my business. And with supporting these companies with my business, I can have a hand in helping to support my community as well.
Small, everyday choices can make an impact.
