How Do I Really Want to Spend My Summer?
Is it any surprise? It’s summertime and there is nothing I want to be doing more than sitting poolside with a drink in my hand! Summer in the midwest is sparse, so I don’t plan on wasting any of it! Nope – I’m ready to soak it up to the very last drop and do nothing but relax. . .
While that sounds like a solid plan to me, reality still exists and so do all of the things that have to be done like grocery shopping and cleaning. Cue the dark and stormy playlist. . .
So, what is there to do to help one spend MORE time enjoying summer and less time being caught up in “reality”? I’ve come up with a few things that have been working for me so far to ease the load! Tell me what you think in the comments and be sure to throw in your own ideas as well.
5 Everyday Time Savers (to free up more pool time!)
Because more is only better when it comes to pool time, not to-do lists.
1. Switch to Dryel for Easy at Home Dry-Cleaning
Errands. Do you love them? It’s a blah for me. So making the switch to an at home dry-cleaning system a few months ago made perfect sense, and it continues to help me save time. In fact, using Dryel to quickly launder my clothing at home gives me the freedom to wear what I want, when I want to wear it!
Here’s how it works:
The first step, pre-treat any stains with Dryel® Booster Spray. Toss in 1-5 items of clothing and 1 ULTRAcleaning™ cloth to the reusable bag provided in the Dryel Starter Kit.
Next, tumble dry on medium heat for 15 minutes, or 30 for a deeper clean.
That’s it! It’s ready! Wear it or hang it up for later.
How’s that for saving time? Pretty great if you ask me!
2. Have Groceries Delivered
Having my groceries delivered to my house on a weekly basis has been such a time-saver for me! Just pop online and pick out what I want, it’s brought right to my doorstep. Not only do some grocery stores offer this service, but there are also several middle-man companies that will do the work for you.
Don’t forget to add Dryel to your shopping list! Luck would have it that this product is sold in local stores, find out where.
3. Prep the Night Before
There is a reason why mom never went to bed with a sink full of dishes! I’ve found that it is so much better to start the day proactive instead of reactive. If I wake up with a kitchen sink full of dishes, things will inevitably stack up behind it and before I know it the whole day is gone and I’ve gotten zero sun time.
4. Designate a Cleaning Day
While some chores need to be done on a daily basis (like dishes and laundry), I have moved toward putting the big things aside for “cleaning day”. This is the one day of the week we set aside to do our deep cleaning, like mopping, dusting, etc.
This saves me time because I have the tendency to want to do these things several times a week, one at a time. Spelling out a day when everyone helps and together we knock it out has proven to save me hours of summer sun time!
5. Utilize Your Phone
Since my phone is basically with me at all times, using it to keep me on track simply makes sense. I often utilize my phone to know what my week looks like via my calendar or to prompt me when something is coming up. I also use local apps to cue me when events are happening nearby. Having everything quickly accessible is a great time-saver and a phone can be a great tool if used wisely.
Some of the best time-saving apps I use are:
- Google Calendar
- Facebook Local
- food delivery apps (these vary)
Whew! Now that this post is complete, I’m hittin’ the pool! See ya there? 🙂
